Commander's
Message
As I
look at the projects and programs coming up between now and
June 2008 I realize that it will take all of us working
together as one family to pull them off:
In February, we have the Auxiliary Luau and the Legion Riders
Casino Night. The Legion is running its New Math Raffle with
the winner to be drawn during the Legion Riders Casino
Night.
We are also working closely with the PGA on a three-iron golf
project-tournament sometimes in March or early April.
The Auxiliary will be hosting the Post Golf Tournament in
May. Also in May, we are working with the NY/St Lucie Mets
on a Post 318 day. This is tentatively scheduled for May 3,
2008. More information and particulars will be forthcoming
in next month’s newsletter.
Finally, we are working with Goodyear on a Post 318 event
tentatively scheduled for Flag Day, June 14, 2008.
As you can see, we are looking to hold numerous events and
will need all the volunteers help we can get. I would like
to see some new faces volunteering their time and talents to
insure these events get off the ground and are successful.
If you have not yet renewed your membership for 2008 to your
organization, then I ask that you do so now. Don’t forget,
effective January 1, 2008 your key card will not work unless
it is the BLUE ONE and effective February 1, 2008. Your
canteen privileges will be suspended until you pay your 2008
dues.
This month out “Members of the Month” are our canteen and
food service staff. Their cheerful attitude makes coming to
the Post something most of us look forward to. Their
dedication and esprit de corps is evident in everything they
do. Again, thanks and congratulations on a job well done.

Legion Riders
Greetings Post 318
Well here we are into February already. Are your Legion dues
paid? Are your Rider dues paid? It is very important to take
care of this as soon as possible.
This month the Legion Riders are having our 3rd Annual Casino Night
on Friday, February 22. Stop by for some great fun. We hope
to see you there.
The Riders have been spending quality ride time visiting
Posts in Sebring, Okeechobee, Palm Bay, Melbourne and Eau
Gallie spreading the word about our great Post and its
members. We hope to visit some more in the future.
Our Legion member and Legion Rider, Greg Skinner (Junior) who
has been working in Iraq since September will be home for a
visit the first two weeks of February. Stop by the Post on
the first and say hello. I’m sure he would like to see you
all.
I hope to see you all at the Post in the coming weeks and
months.

TEXAS
HOLD EM' TOURNAMENT
Our
next tournament will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7pm.
Doors open at 6:30. We play from 7 to 11pm if it lasts that
long. There is only two months left in order to win your way
into the Tournament of Champions for 2007 - 2008 which will
be held sometimes in April. In order to play you must be a
member of the Post (Legion, Aux. Or SAL). Any member may
bring a guest, but that member must also play. Kitchen is
open to a little after the 8pm break for your eating
pleasure. This is an important program when it comes to
supporting the Post in it’s many goals. Come down, have fun
and help your Post to be better.

GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS
I hope everyone had a good time as I did at our New Year’s
Eve Party. DJ Sal really outdid himself. He was great - had
everyone on the dance floor. Thanks to all who brought in
the food. It was excellent.
On January 1 we had our drawing for the four day, three night
trip to the keys with a basket of cheer and a set of
luggage. The winner was GR Gillotti. Thanks again to Brian
Pierson for all his help in arranging for the condo.
On January 19 at our Auxiliary Meeting we had our pinning
ceremony and celebrated those who have dedicated years of
service. Every Auxiliary member is important - we just
wanted to honor those who had 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40,
45, 50 and Muriel Paquet for her 55 years as a life member.
February 9 is our Hawaiian LUAU Party. Get your tickets early
for this one - it is sure to be a complete sellout like last
year! The menu includes Hawaiian Pork or Huli Huli Chicken
with all the accompaniments. Music for your dancing pleasure
and lots of fun games. Join us for a great night wearing
your tropical outfits.
Don’t forget...We need your attendance, your volunteerism and
your great talents and qualities to accomplish all we want
to do this coming year which is working together for the
good and welfare of our Veterans and their families. Next
meeting is February 16 at noon.
Hope you all have a wonderful, safe and healthy New Year.
“What you leave behind is not what is
engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the
lives of others.”
ALWAYS A PLEASURE,

Newsletter News
Our
newsletter has changed hands as of this newsletter. Before I
go on I want to thank Ken and Linda Moldt for not only doing
a wonderful job for the past, I believe 8 years, but for all
the help they have and are continuing to give to me to make
sure I start off on the right foot. I hope that I can give
you the same high quality product that you are used to.
If you have any suggestions or ideas that may make our
newsletter better, don’t hesitate to let me know. If I think
your idea will make the newsletter better and if it is a
feasible thing to do, then I will try to implement it. I am
usually at the Post most weekdays from 2 to 5pm. If you
can’t make it there you can email your ideas or articles to
318editor@bellsouth.net.
I look forward to hearing from you and trying to be a good
editor to this very important part of our Post.
