Commander's
Message
Hello All Members of Post 318,
Here we are at Mid-Year
and all the Elections are over. I would like to congratulate
all new officers from each Organization, and wish them the
best for the upcoming 2007 year. I know all will do their
best to keep our Post, the #1 Post on the Treasure Coast and
will perform their duties as your officers.
I would like to thank all Legionnaires for their continued
support of me as Commander. I hope I have helped direct our
Post to make it a better place for all members. Granted, in
this position, you can't make everyone happy but my personal
Philosophy is always "Do it, if its best for the Post"
Beginning in August, 2007 dues will be accepted and
membership renewals will be going out. Lets get the
membership off to a great start and reach our 100% as soon
as we can. We accomplished 100% this year and I want to
thank 1st Vice, Babe Garneau for his hard work.
The House Committee has alot of plans for great Activities
and Functions for the upcoming months. I ask you always look
at your calendars and schedule to come out and enjoy
yourself at one of the events. A lot of hard work goes into
planning these events.
The Commander's Recognition Dinner will be held on Sunday,
August 13th at 2pm. This Dinner is to recognize all the
volunteers for this past year. Ticket sales will be going on
in July. Please plan on attending.
This month I would like to make Steve Boulet our "Member of
the Month." I see Steve helping out in any way he can with
all organization, whether it be the Honor Guard, Wednesday
Nite Dinners, etc. I commend you Steve.
Commander
Daryl Bowie

As 1st. Vice, I would like to thank all
Legionnaires of Post 318 for helping me reach 100% in our
membership for 2006. It really was a challenge this year. We
had 10 members transfer out to other cities, 65 new members,
and 54 transfers in, on top of our current membership. I
want to thank all you guys and gals for this endeavor.
At this time I would like to congratulate four of our members
for winning the Early Bird drawing for 2006-2007 dues. The
member are: William Jacobs, Eugene Crossman, Richard Soto, &
Frank Ellis Their Dues will be paid by the Post for this
upcoming year.
I also want to thank all that elected me as Executive Board
Member for the upcoming year.
1st Vice, "Babe" Garneau

The Riders held our yearly election of
officers recently. The following members were elected to
serve for the 2006-2007 period.
Commander; Jim Burk
First Vice: Dave Shaffer
Second Vice: Greg Emerson
Secretary: Sherri Demoss
Treasurer: Sally Emerson
Chaplain: Carol LoGrasso
Sgt-at-Arms: Harold Barth

I am proud to repeat as Commander, and proud of the members
that have stepped up to be officers for the upcoming year.
We recently participated in 2 very emotional events here
locally. We visited the nursing home on Oleander and then
participated in a dedication ceremony at Post 171 for their
new Post Everlasting Memorial.
Our annual fund-raiser is Sunday July 23rd. It will be
devoted entirely to helping Treasure Coast Vets. There will
be a poker run, along with an auction, prizes and games,
food and music. So please come and support this worthy
cause. It's hard to believe that we are fast approaching the
dog days of summer. But hey, when you're having fun, the
time flies.

AUXILIARY
GOLF TOURNAMENT
A
HUGH SUCCESS!
On Sunday, May 21st. our Auxiliary held its fourth annual
charity golf tournament at Gator Trace Country Club in Fort
Pierce. One hundred and twelve golfers turned out for a
wonderful day of golf and prizes, with proceeds from the
event benefiting many worthy veterans' causes.
Cash prizes for 1st, 7th and 15th place were awarded along
with prizes for lady's longest drive, men's longest drive
and closest to the pin. Seven golfers also sank their putts
to win prizes in the putting contest.
After the tournament a luncheon and awards ceremony was held
back at the Post for all participants. Door prizes and
raffle prizes were given out and a 50/50 and Texas Hold-Em
drawing was held. Prizes for the tournament were donated by
local businesses, sponsors and Legion members.
The Women's Auxiliary extends their thanks and best wishes to
all who made this event a tremendous success. Special thanks
go to Linda Geraghty from Wal-Mart whose generosity and
support went beyond our expectations. Our deepest
appreciation goes to Tommy Bowes for his endless dedication
to this tournament. We would also like to acknowledge the
following people for going above and beyond the call of
duty. Steve Boulet for once again providing the car for the
"hole-in-one"; Harold Barth for arranging for the Harley
Davidson motorcycle along with several hole sponsorships;
Chris Nelson whose experience and willingness to help was
priceless. There were a number of others people - Riders,
Sons, Auxiliary and Legionnaires - who not only devoted
their time and energy but also opened their hearts and
wallets to make this day a success.
I would personally like to thank all the golf committee
members for their hard work and long hours. Words cannot
express my appreciation and gratitude for all that you've
done. We only achieved what we did because of you, and I
look forward to your support again for our 5th Annual
Tournament.
Next years tournament will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2007
and we hope to make it bigger and better than this
years. Again, thank you all.
